There lies an untapped potential in the visualisation of complex data. Visualisation allows to gain a quick overview, reveal hidden patterns and surprising findings can occur.
The goal of this one semester workshop was to develop unique concepts for visualising large datasets. Instead of using ready-made tools or standard software, tailor-made approaches addressed the uniquenes of a raw data set. We explored how visualisation makes complex data accessible, useful, visually attractive and even entertaining.
p5.js and d3.js were taught during the course and the students applied them to their semester projects. Concepts for processing, analyzing and visualising data are taught and applied.
The workshop took place at the Institute for Multimedia Production at the University of Applied Sciences HTW Chur (CH).
