Population Scenarios form an important basis for city planning in order to know where new schools have to be built or where infrastructure has to be enhanced.
This visual analysis tool emerged from a collaboration with the population scenario team of the Statistics Office of Zurich. It enables the exploration of the past and the future population of Zurich.
This 3D visualisation enables filtering by several parameters in order to answer questions such as «Where do old people live?», «Where do people aged between 20 - 30 live?» or «Which areas are predominately inhabited by young families?». It also explores possibilities of an interactive 3D visualisation and compares it with traditional approaches used in population prediction.
Its a Java Application using JOGL for graphics and GLSL shaders for glow effects.
